Ferries

Caledonian MacBryane run a daily service from Uig in Skye to Lochmaddy in North Uist, and from Oban and Barra to Lochboisdale in South Uist.

Directions from ferry terminals:
Lochmaddy (16 miles, 26 km) - as you come out of Lochmaddy take the A867 south towards Clachan (8 miles) then turn left on to the A865 for 5 miles. Once you cross over a series of major causeways and reach the island of Grimsay turn left at either of the junctions to the circular road round the island. This road provides a scenic detour from the A865 which continues towards Benbecula and South Uist. 'Glendale' self-catering is sign posted at the north end of the circular road, but is equally accessible from either direction (3 miles, 5 km).

Lochboisdale (31 miles, 50 km) - take the A865 north past Daliburgh for 28 miles. On leaving the island of Benbecula  you cross over a series of major causeways and reach the island of Grimsay. Turn right at either of the junctions to the circular road round the island. This road provides a scenic detour from the A865 which continues towards North Uist. 'Glendale' self-catering is sign posted at the north end of the circular road, but is equally accessible from either direction (3 miles, 5 km).

Flights

The local airport is located on Benbecula, approximately 8 miles (13 km) from 'Glendale' self-catering. Services are provided by:

British Airways  flights from Glasgow, Inverness, Barra and Stornoway.

Highland Airways flights from Inverness and Stornoway.

Car Hire

A number of local car hire companies are available and some are able to deliver a car to the airport or ferry terminals if required.
