Miles of unspoilt beaches, an abundance of flora and fauna, clear skies and spectacular sunsets will all help to ensure that this will not be your last visit to these beautiful islands.

Otters and seals are often seen within walking distance of Glendale. Local boat trips can be arranged. There are also historical sites within walking distance of Glendale and many more within driving distance.

If you like shellfish, watch as the local boats land their catch. Why not buy some for your dinner? It doesn’t come any fresher!

There are many interesting and enjoyable walks in the Uists, which will allow you to see the islands’ beautiful scenery, and to find out more about the history, wildlife such as the Golden Eagle and the Corncrake, and plant life of the area. Beaches, hills, machair and other special environments all feature in a range of walks which can last a day or just a couple of hours.

 

 

 

 

 

If you like sports, why not relax with a game of golf at one of the island’s golf courses, or spend the day at The Uist Outdoor Centre for some more energetic fun.

Sgoil Lionacleit, the local community school on Benbecula, offers a sports centre with fitness suite, games hall, sauna and a 25-metre swimming pool.

Boat trips to some off-shore islands are offered throughout the summer months.

Permits can be purchased for loch fishing; contact should be made with North Uist Estates.

Throughout the summer months the local rangers organise walks, why not take advantage of these and enjoy the beauty of some of the more remote parts of the islands?
